GCYD Surf Soldiers Youth Development Camp

Hi All,

Please find attached a copy of the Surf Soldier Branch Youth Development Camp nomination forms.

This camp  is for the Under 14 and Under 15 age group.

Nominations for this camp is NOW OPEN. Participant nomination forms and information pack are included in this email. Leaders for this camp have been identified by the Branch Youth Development Officers and they will be approached to apply for the camp on an individual basis.

Nominations for the camp close of the 14th of October 2011.

PDB Team X-Treme 15 - 18 Yrs Development Program

OCTOBER 2011 – APRIL 2012

Point Danger Branch will be conducting a Youth Development Program beginning in October 2011 called “PDB Team X-Treme”.

This program will be focused towards members aged from 15 – 18 years that are motivated and passionate about being a lifesaver and have special interests within Surf Life Saving other than competition.  During this program we aim to develop participant’s skills and encourage each one to reach their full potential as a Surf Life Saver. This involves educating participants on all aspects of Surf Life Saving and how they can play an important role in the community. This program is designed to benefit the individuals participating by helping them to discover and achieve their desired goals and give direction on different services available within Surf Life Saving. This will also benefit each club as we are building better lifesavers for the future.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain qualifications and experience in all services of Surf Life Saving. This includes visits to our radio operators support unit - Surf Com and also visits and demonstrations of the wave runner, jet rescue boat, off shore rescue boat and the rescue helicopter.

The outcome of this program will show participants that people of all ages, shapes, sizes and skill levels can play an important role in keeping our beaches safe. Participants will also gain the followingSurf Life Saving Awards: Silver Medallion – Basic Beach Management, IRB Crew Certificate, Radio Operators, Operational First Aid, CPR and also ART (Advance Resuscitation Techniques).
